Why Oregon?

One of our long-time team members, Karrin, has been based in Oregon since 2021, continuing to work remotely as an integral part of our firm as a junior project manager, designer, and associate. Over time, her presence there naturally sparked conversations within our office about place, opportunity, and how our work might evolve beyond our home base in Napa Valley. Karrin has always been an important part of our community, and supporting her journey opened the door to imagining what a broader footprint could look like for Covell Architects.
 

Karrin’s ties to Oregon extend beyond architecture. She and her husband, Alessio, moved from Napa Valley to Willamette Valley to pursue a shared vision that blends design, craft, and agriculture. Together, they are establishing a winery and tasting room of their own, with Alessio deeply involved in every aspect of the vineyard and winemaking process. Born in Rome with family vineyards in Sicily, his love for wine runs deep. The two were married in Sicily in October of 2025 and continue to grow their paths side by side—Karrin as she works toward becoming a licensed architect, and Alessio as he builds a wine business rooted in tradition and place.
 

So, what does this mean for Covell Architects? With Karrin physically present in Oregon and connected to its architecture, people, and wine culture, we now have a thoughtful foothold in the state. This allows us to better understand local context, collaborate with regional agencies and consultants, and design custom projects throughout the Pacific Northwest with intention and care. While we continue to expand our local roots in Oregon, our approach remains the same -collaborative, detail-driven, and grounded in a genuine respect for place.
